prego question [07 Jul 2008|04:23am]

[ mood | confused ]

So last month I didn't get my period, I went off birth control in May. I took a pregnancy test TWICE and came up negative.

a few days ago I had sex, no protection and he came inside me.

now obv I'm expecting to be pregnant (which I'm fine with) but my question is, I have NO idea when I should be getting my period since I didn't get it last month and hardly the month before that. I checked my calender and it SHOULD come next week. So should I rely on that and take a test if I "miss" it or should I just pick a certain date and test then?

I've read the memories but didn't find anything that really nailed this on the head -- my specific situation at least.

So, I'm 17 and so is my monogamous boyfriend with whom I have not yet had sex -- we are both virgins.  We do wish to have sex in the near future, and are preparing in the meantime.  In doing so, he has been attempting to finger me, to "loosen me up," as one might say.  I have never masturbated or been given an orgasm that way, nor have I used tampons because it is intensely painful.  So is being fingered (and yes, we are using profuse amounts of lube) -- the problem is that I can't tell how much pain is normal.  It feels like it would be a normal amount of pain the first time I tried using a tampon or being fingered, but it has persisted.  Granted, I have only tried using a tampon a few times (though the first time I had it in for several hours during heavy flow and it never stopped hurting), and he has fingered me three or four times, each for very short periods of time because of the pain.  Is this definitely not normal and I should head to a doctor, or should we keep exploring?  I told him that next time (probably tomorrow), we are not stopping regardless of my pain (within reason of course) until we have progressed for some time to the larger fingers, and damnit, he has big hands.  Perhaps we are just not taking it far enough to make any progress.  Could that be the case?  If it is of any help, it is near the entrance that the pain occurs, and he says that he can feel the place where I am tightest -- hymen?  If it is NOT an abnormal amount of pain, does anyone have any suggestions beyond the obvious of, "keep going?"

Thanks in advance for any help.

Doctor wont prescribe birth control for me yet?? [07 Jul 2008|12:55am]

birthcontrol

[lovestruck85]

Hi All,

I'm sorry if this isnt ENTIRELY on topic, but I cant get it off my mind.

I'm 22, and in a 5 1/5 year relationship where we were both virgins and condoms were the only form of BC. We havent has sex much (as in 3 or 4 times within the past 12 months) because we've had a few problems with condom breakage in the past and we are scared to death to have it happen again. We do everything else sexually at least once per week, and would love to get me on birth control so we can actually have sex (along with period regulation purposes).

I went to the doctor a few weeks ago for a check-up, and he asked me how my menstrual cycles have been. It gave me the perfect segway into the conversation. He seemed fine with it until he asked if I was sexually active. When I told him I was, he looked a little concerned and asked if I'd been to a gyno. I replied no (sheepishly), and he told me to see one before prescribing the pill to me. The reason seemed to be that all women should get pap smears (which I whole-heartedly agree with) along with the fact that certain BC pills affect women differently.

Do note I havent gone to my doctor in 3 years (at first due to scheduling conflicts, then pure laziness), so this is the first that hes heard im not a virgin. It kind of made me nervous, so I didnt get the chance to tell him that I've only been with one man (who will probably me that last) and that we haven't slept with anyone else but each other, so I should be lesser risk for stds and the like.

While I do agree that I need to go to a gyno (honestly, I know I'm overdue for an exam, but I'm nervous to do new things and just need to psych myself up to find one and schedule an appointment), can a doctor really refuse to prescribe BC?? I appreciate the fact that my doctor cares enough to push me to see a gyno, but isnt it really not his business? Or can a gyno tell me something about the pill that the doctor wouldnt? OR can a gyno prescribe the pill for me?

I'd love to call the doctor tomorrow and ask if there was some specific reason why he shouldn't prescribe the pill to me. Heck, I'd promise that I'd make an appointment to see a gyno if he writes me a prescription tomorrow :)

While I appreciate any feedback, I'm not looking for people to chatise me for not going to a gynocologist yet. Its my own personal decision, and I do know that I need to see one soon. I want to know what people think about my doctors response.

Thanks for your input

Vagina odor and taste... [07 Jul 2008|01:08am]

vaginapagina

[distancebetween]
Hey everyone. I was wondering if any of you know of any ways (food, drinks or anything else) that could change the smell or taste of a vagina for the better?

I have heard pineapple juice and vitamin c. Is there anything else that you know of?

Or anything else besides food/drinks?

Even something that just produces a neutral flavor?

The majority of my diet is iced tea, carbs (bagels, pizza, pasta) and chicken. I don't really have dairy or veggies much. So let me know if you have any pointers.

Thanks.

i have no idea how to use my vibrator. [06 Jul 2008|09:25pm]

[wearesunshine]
so yesterday i made my first trip to good vibrations and bought my first vibrator, the turbo glider. i was (am!) thrilled about it. so last night i'm in bed, gettin' ready to make a new best friend, when i realized something.

i have no idea what to do with it! i get the part where it vibrates and then you have a magical orgasm that doesn't involve finger cramps, but i'm missing all of the in-between. i mean...where should i start? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO BE DOING WITH THIS THING?! i really want this to work out...but i'm just really overwhelmed by it.

thanks all...i kinda feel like a nitwit for having to ask this, but hey, at least i have a medium in which to do the asking?

Self conscious about oral?/different kinds of orgasms [06 Jul 2008|11:32pm]

vaginapagina

[the_icy_heights]
I'm with a guy who is absolutely WONDERFUL in the bedroom. We have a really good sexual chemistry and it's just...fun! I used to find sex to be rather tiresome until he came around.
However, I cant seem to get past my body image.

I like to have sex, but as far as receiving oral sex is concerned, I'm really nervous about it. For some reason I have this silly thought that if we're having sex, he cant see as much of my body if he's on top of me than when he's going down on me. It's kind of ridiculous, since I'm sure nobody has sex with their eyes completely closed, but still...it irks me.

I say this because he really likes giving oral sex. He's told me this several times, but I'm still really weirded out by the idea. I start to like it, but my fears take over and I usually just move on to a different sexual act. I start thinking of what it must taste/smell like, what I look like, how weird my vagina looks, etc, and it usually kills it for me.
I also feel kind of...well, selfish for receiving all the attention. I don't like being in the 'spotlight', so to speak. I usually don't know what to do with myself either...I start noticing how quiet the room is or something, and then I'm way too freaked out to get into the moment.

I'd really like to enjoy this for once!
Is there any way to get past this? Some encouragement? Any tips on how to relax when this happens?

Also, I find that orgasming through 'outer' stimulation a lot more intense than being stimulated on the 'inside' (I don't know technical names, sorry!). Is this normal? Should I be experiencing the same kind of orgasm and I'm just not doing it right? Or can you have varying degrees of orgasm? I just find the feelings to be very different.

Thanks!

normal vaginal discharge? [06 Jul 2008|08:16pm]

vaginapagina

[februaryfever]
During the past few days when I had sex, I discharged pretty heavily, but it wasn't constant. For example, i'd be pretty wet starting out, and a little bit in i'll notice a huge clump of creamy discharge out of nowhere. After this, it isn't nearly as much but still pretty creamy. I've had both yeast infections and bv before, and i'm pretty sure this is neither, it just is really random and i'm wondering if this is normal? This never really happens to me, either. I mean, when aroused my discharge does change in consistency, but never to this extent. Should I be worried?

quick question [06 Jul 2008|10:08pm]

vaginapagina

[binksgoesbang]
When I pull a tampon out, especailly if it hasn't absorbed much blood, it gets like snagged on something when I pull it out, and sometimes makes a little little popping noise and then it comes out easily. Is it just that its getting stuck behind my hymen or something?

Also ; I know some foods can lower birth control effectivness. What are some really common things I need to avoid? Also any over-the-counter medications that would react to it? I just read about grapefuit in a past post. I'm so paranoid I'll have a favorite food and be snacking away on it and lowering my birth control. Is there a list somewhere?

coochie overflowing like somebody let the faucet run.. [06 Jul 2008|02:26pm]

[ mood | crazy ]

hello everyone (:    okay so, i checked the memories, and i feel as if most women have the OPPOSITE
of this problem.  i have a  boyfriend that i've been with for a year, a great sex life and all, blahblah..

<lj-cut text="but the problem is... ">

that when i ejaculate....its wayyy too much!  i know, some of you are going to say that i'm lucky because most women can't ejaculate at all, and very few women are " squirters" but i really wish i didn't do it at all, or not as much.  my boyfriend doesn't mind it, but it's such a hassle because every time i'm soaking through the bed sheets, leaving several large stains, as well as making us drenched and just feeling.. gross, you know?

cuddling naked together after sex is something i enjoy, but we won't even do that now because we both feel all wet and like.. stuck together that we just want to get dressed as soon as we're done.  i don't mind cumming, it feels great,  but when i do,  i just think it's just wayy too much.  it doesn't happen just once, but several times as we're having sex, it drips all down my legs and all over him.  at first he thought it was something that he was doing specifically ( like a certain rythym or motion i suppose) to make me cum, but even when i'm on top riding him, it gets all over him.  my boyfriend and i think it's funny because we don't even know where it all comes from!   i'm a  tiny 102 pound girl, and its seriously like somebody left a faucet running.  where does female ejaculate get stored?  can it ever " run out "  ? i know it's associated with the g-spot, but is there like something in there that is filled with liquid that releases when the g-spot is stimulated?

i'd also like to note that before this boyfriend, i've had PIV sex with 4 other guys, and i've NEVER once came before. i didn't even have the slightest idea that i was a squirter before i met this guy. i also noticed, i never came in the beginning of our relationship, this is only a recent thing that we discovered (maybe i'm more comfortable with him now?)  he is by far the most attractive guy that i have ever been with,  perhaps i'm just widly attracted to/turned on by him that he makes me cum all over the place? (;

we have shower sex pretty often because there's no mess left behind, but we can't always go in the shower, his parents are usually home.  we've put down towels and everything, but his mom always finds them or finds the soaked bedsheets and asks us why the sheets are drenched!  help!

Oh great, another question [06 Jul 2008|09:30pm]

vaginapagina

[epicbookshelves]
The last two times I've had sex, I've noticed afterward I am bleeding. The bleeding is not very heavy, but obviously noticeable. Usually takes about an hour to stop. The flow is similar to that of the very last day of my period, where I don't really need a tampon because it's so light. At first I just though I was getting my period early, but it stopped, and now it's happened again after sex.

I'm looking it up online but wanted to know your all's opinions. Ever happen before to you? Thoughts on what it could be? If this normal?

Also I'll mention the sex was not particularly rough, I believe I was on top most of the time, but that's fairly normal. And there was no pain or discomfort.

pleasure/pain in vagina? [06 Jul 2008|10:05pm]

vaginapagina

[polaroidmoment]
[ mood | confused ]

okay, so this just started happening today and I'm more than a little confused/freaked out/loving the whole situation.

In the past eight months or so, I've only been sexually active three times (two of those time being in the last two weeks. The most recent was on thursday). The last time it happened, I got put into a position that was a totally new angle for me, but it was good. We used a condom.

Flash forward to today, when I went to pee and noticed light red/brown-ish stains in my underwear. I've been on the pill for at least 5 years (i'm 21) and had my period regularly about two weeks ago. I should be getting it again in about a week. Although, I should mention that I've been pretty irregular with taking my pill lately, I do usually take it within four hours of the right time. I can honestly say I've never noticed any spotting in between periods for as long as I've been getting it. Anywho, when I started to pee, I felt the most INTENSE pressure on the inner, front wall of my vag. I've been drinking a lot of water today, and since about four in the afternoon, I've continued to feel the pressure when I've just been sitting around, although it's not as intense as when I pee. It's not necessarily bad pressure... it actually feels quite good. Anyway, I wipe and there's blood on the tp, sometimes small clots.

So... WTF? I honestly have no idea what is going on right now, and while the pressure is good, it's kind of freaking me out in an "OMGWTFBBQ" sort of way. I mean, my parents visited me today, and I felt more than a little awkward sitting there with a touch of the 'gasm in my pants, haha.

birthcontrol

[sexcasually]
earlier this year somehow i was switched trinessa to trisprintec, which just did not agree with my body. i would have constant cramping and bloating(especially after my placebo week), lack of libido, and horrible acne. i stuck out the 3 months and than some, i had mono for the first 3 months so i allowed a few extra months to adjust. but i just couldn't take it anymore. i called up my doctor hoping she'd have me come in to discuss options, but instead she just switched me to yasmin. i've been on it for a week my acne's cleared up pretty well, my libido's coming back, but am still crampy(which can be pretty painful) and now i have really bad moodswings and am pretty emotional. crampy and emotional aren't exactly the funnest combination. im going to an actual gyno, not my family doctor, next week just to get a second opinion. but if she says to stick it out for another 3 months, my problem is i cant really afford yasmin. i have pretty crappy insurance and have to pay for prescriptions out of pocket. this month's pack set me back $60...does plan parenthood offer it for cheaper? im sorry if pricing questions arent allowed.

birthcontrol

[jaaaaamas]
I'm on Loestrin24 FE. I have been on it for 7 months and have had no problems with it. As advertised, my periods got lighter and shorter, but they still came.

Now it's been about 2 and a half months and I have had no signs of my period. I've taken 3 home pregnancy tests over the course of the last month and a half and they've all been negative. I've been pregnant before and haven't had any symptoms of pregnancy either.

I have to imagine that even though it seems like lighter periods are a good thing because it's easier to manage, having NO periods over time probably not very good for my body. The last period I had before this was in April I believe and it was very bizarre. It lasted 9 days total, and normally my period is only 5 days long even when I'm not on birth control. My gyno said it could be that I didn't take my pills at exactly the right times. Now after one huge period, I have none!

Has anyone heard any information or reasons about NOT getting your period while on birth control?

Reclipsen: The Missed Pill, Late Period, Negative Pregnancy Test and ME! [06 Jul 2008|06:40pm]

birthcontrol

[sgt_peper]
Hola. I've done a comprehensive search of this community and didn't find all these problems in relation to my particular situation, so I hope I'm not repeating old news or anything here. Please don't hate me if I am, I'm a very wary 20-something who's bound to make mistakes.

Which brings me to my problem. I was on Apri for four months before being switched to Reclipsen. As I have been informed, this is the same drug and one's a brand name and one's generic or something like that, but I figured it warranted explaining. I just finished my first pack of Reclipsen and am on my third placebo. In the past, I have started periods on birth control on the first day or two of placebo, one time even the night of my last hormone pill.

The plot thickens: sometime mid-pack, I don't quite remember when precisely, I missed one pill and took it the next day with that day's dose as instructed on my pill pamphlet. I will gravely admit that I have been generally uninformed about procedure concerning intercourse in this situation--I was put on prescription for health issues, not primarily for birth control--and continued having sex as usual with my boyfriend (which is quite often for us). I didn't think anything of this due to the fact that I was under the impression that that wouldn't "mess up" the fact that I didn't have an egg to fertilize.

Flash forward to a week or two later, I am getting a decent amount of very red spotting. I got copious amounts of spotting my first month on Apri, but haven't gotten any since. This worried me quite a bit but I knew that could be considered common so I worried not.

Now I'm on placebos and I haven't started my period. I know I might be seeming a little paranoid, but all evidence thus far points to the conclusion that I get my period very early, etc. Today at work I nearly went crazy with anxiety due to fear of pregnancy. I've had my diva cup in (to lure it out? I don't know) and I'm still getting an odd brown-ish thick discharge. But no blood.

I just took a pregnancy test. As in, just. As in, found this community, read about how careful others were about abstaining or using other contraceptive methods after a missed pill and freaked out about my potential carelessness. It came out negative. My questions are: can I trust this negative result? Is there a possibility I might still be pregnant? And are all of these occurrences normal?

Thank you for anything you can give me. The fact that communities like this exist give me hope about this world.

All right ladies. I know this has been asked multiple times in different situations, but I could really use some reassurance. I am 20 and have not visited a Gyno yet because of my total embarrassment of "down there". My labia seem to be larger than normal, and while I am very happy and have been sexually active with my one (and only!) for over a year- I feel really insecure about it. Women are all sizes down there, right? I know it's stupid because they've probably seen everything but I keep thinking that every woman who walks in to be checked has picture perfect small labia/lips.. and mine are not. I would like to get checked sometime this year. So am I perfectly ok? Worried about nothing? Thanks.

Okay, so you guys were really helpful with my last question and I am turning to you all again. Since I discovered the art of masturbation (lol) I have always used my fingers, however I am very curious about using toys and stuff. I am way too embarrassed to go to a store to buy a vibrator or something like that, so have any of you found safe alternatives that work just as well for penetration, vibration etc?

Glamazon rant [06 Jul 2008|12:50pm]

whatnottowear

[violet_tigress1]
I just had to join this community, so I could post my own rant about the show. I love to watch, but I admit that this show is totally one of my guilty pleasures. I love to make fun of it. Also, is it my imagination, or have their criticisms gotten meaner over the years?

What really bugs me is that Clinton and Stacy always dress everyone the same- like runway fashion models. The example that really sticks out in my mind is the show they did a long time ago, with the two Mormon women from Utah. They didn't look like themselves at all, and you could totally tell that their husbands hated it.

It seems that they like to squash out any hint of personal style, or utilitarian fashion adaptations. Like elastic waistbands and zippers- some people wear those for good reasons. Sometime I'd like to see them dress someone who just can't wear heels and work a million buttons every day.
